HARLIN MUSEUM’S APRIL ART COMPETITION AND SHOW

Entry Dates: Friday and Saturday, March 30 & 31, 2018, 12 noon to 4 pm at the Harlin Museum in the Hathcock Gallery, 405 Worcester Ave, West Plains, MO 65775, 417-256-7801.
Entry Fee: 1 painting – $20.00, 2 paintings – $30.00, 3 paintings – $35.00, 4 paintings – $40. Make check payable to the Harlin Museum. Artists can only enter 4 paintings.
There will not be entry categories: All two dimensional art will be accepted to include Oil; Water medium (includes: acrylic, gouache, regular watercolor and watercolor pencils); Mixed medium/collage; Pastel; Graphics (includes: pencil, graphite, charcoal, ink, linocut, and colored pencil. Prizes will include but limited to awarding the overall Best of Show $200 and ribbon and 3 each 1st place $75.00, 2nd place $50.00, and 3rd place $25.00 awards with ribbons; there may also be Memorial Awards, Purchase Awards, Artistic Encouragement Awards given by the West Plains Businesses and Community and a viewing People’s Choice Award.
Guidelines: All paintings must be original works of the artist entering. No Copies. All work must be done in the last 4 years and not previously shown in Harlin Museums Competition Art Show Exhibits. All work must be either framed or the 1.25 inch gallery wrapped canvas with wire and eye-screws for hanging. No Saw-tooth Hangers. All acrylic and oils must be dry. Watercolor, ink, graphics, and pastel (all works on paper) must be under glass. All entries will be evaluated for artistic quality and integrity, presentation and must meet the above hanging guidelines to be accepted into this show. This evaluation will be done at time of entry and artists will only be charged the entry fee for items accepted for the show. Any subject that can be presented to school children will be accepted. Size Limit: No larger than 36 X 48 inches.
Reception: The meet and greet social for the artists will be held Saturday, April 21, 2017 at 2 pm. The Ribbons & prize money and special awards will be awarded at the reception, by the Harlin Museum Board President, Gladys Morris and the paintings will be released at 3pm, and the museum closes at 4 pm. Paintings may be picked up at the museum the following week Tuesday through Friday, from 12 noon to 4 pm.
Sponsors: The Harlin Museums Spring Art Show is sponsored by the James P. Harlin Foundation Museum Board members. Proceeds after expenses will go towards the Harlin Museum Maintenance and creating a controlled environment storage area for the Permanent collection.
