Photography Basics with Carr Ward @ Harlin Museum; Lower Level, Classroom Space

This workshop is open to anyone age 12 and up.
 
This will be a basic digital photography workshop that will emphasize:
 
– an introduction to the features of a digital camera and how to use, set, and adjust settings for your camera.
– a basic understanding of different types of light sources and how to find the right light balance, brightness, & contrast in your photo
– checking your photograph’s composition
– framing your point of interest
– the rule of thirds
 
 
VENUE: Harlin Museum; Lower Level, Classroom Space

Digital Camera
Tripod, if you have one
Notebook and pen/pencil for taking notes.

Digital Photo Restoration Workshop with Jimmie Marler @ Harlin Museum; Lower Level, Classroom Space

This workshop will instruct students on how to use digital editing software (Adobe Photoshop) to edit, restore, and manipulate photographs; the software is included as part of the workshop. The instructor, Jimmie Marler, has taught art, computer skills, and mathematics in both high school & college level classrooms for over 37 years and has photographed over 800 wedding ceremonies as a professional photographer.

Each student will be using Photoshop software to digitally alter/restore a scanned photograph. Please pre-register to attend ASAP to allow for proper set-up spacing and supplied materials.

VENUE: Harlin Museum; Lower Level, Classroom Space

LUNCH / REFRESHMENTS: Drinking water will be provided; students may bring other refreshments or snacks as they please

WORKSHOP HOURS: 12 noon to 4 pm

SUBJECT: Learning how to restore & manipulate photographs using digital editing software (Adobe Photoshop)

COST: $45.00 per person; students may pay at the door upon arrival to the workshop

REQUIRED SUPPLIES:

  • Any photo you would like to edit (no larger than 8″ x10″ for instructional purposes)
  • Laptop computer with available memory (to download the provided editing software)
  • Pen and paper for taking notes
