Entry Dates: Friday, January 17th & Saturday, January 18th, 2020 (12 pm – 4 pm) at the Harlin Museum’s Hathcock Gallery, located at 405 Worcester Ave, West Plains, MO 65775
Entry Fee: 1 entry – $20.00; 2 entries – $30.00, 3 entries – $35.00, 4 entries – $40. Enter 4 pieces; get 5th entry FREE! Limit 5 entries per artist. Cash or check only; make checks payable to the Harlin Museum.
Categories: Amount of entries will determine categories.Adult & youth divisions. Artisans can enter any kind of textile item, to include, but not limited to: quilts, afghans, crocheted & hand-knitted articles, embroidery, hand-woven items, wool felting projects, lacework, applique, handmade textile apparel, etc.
Over $500 value in total prizes is to be awarded in multiple categories. Also included are special honor awards and, new this year, the Carrie A. Warren-Gentry Talent in Textile Arts Memorial Award, a special $100 memorial award for the Youth Category, which is open to ages 17 and younger.
Guidelines: Any type of quilt or type of textile art is eligible. All pieces must be original works of the artist entering. All work must not have previously been in a Harlin Museum Competition Show. All entries will be evaluated for artistic quality, integrity, and application of technical skill. All entries that need special support to display items must have the support base accompanying the article. Designer clothing must have the proper hangers to assist in displaying the items. All hangers and display supports will be returned to owners at the end of the show with their entries.
Competition pieces will be released for pickup at 3 pm on Sunday, February 9th, 2020 and must be picked up from the museum by the Sunday of the following week, during regular hours of operation, or will become the property of the museum.
Sales: Entries may be offered for sale during the dates of the show; the Harlin Museum is entitled to a 30% commission on all sales made during the dates of the show exhibit.
Reception: Gala Nite at the Museum will host the show’s Award’s Reception for artists on Saturday, February 8th, 2020 (5-7 pm) at the museum. Open to the public; refreshments and drinks will be served.
Sponsors: The Harlin Museum’s Annual Quilting & Textile Arts Competition Show is sponsored by local businesses, the Harlin Museum’s Patrons, and the James P. Harlin Foundation Board of Directors. Proceeds from the show go towards the museum’s maintenance and the continuation of it’s cultural & educational programming.
