Events & Activities

In addition to hosting fine art exhibitions, the museum is host to a range of activities for people of all ages:

Textile & Quilt Show

This is a non-juried show open to all artists held in January every year. Cash awards and ribbons will be given for The Best of Show and the Best of each Class.

High School Art Show

This is a non-juried show open to all high school-aged artists held in February every year. Cash awards and ribbons will be given for Best of Show, First Place, Second Place, and Third Place entries. The People’s Choice entry gets a ribbon.

Digital Art Show

This is a non-juried show open to all artists held in March every year. Cash awards and ribbons will be given for Best of Show, First Place, Second Place, and Third Place entries. The People’s Choice entry gets a ribbon.

Spring Art Show

This is a non-juried show open to all artists held in April every year. Cash awards and ribbons will be given for Best of Show, First Place, Second Place, and Third Place entries. The People’s Choice entry gets a ribbon.

Entry Details

Art touches all the activities of everyday life. From gardening to babysitting to cooking and cleaning, art is everywhere. Creativity is the ability to dream up a snapshot of the “touches’ of everyday life and convey that through art. The Spring Art Show focuses on these snapshots conveyed through paintings which allows the artist to showcase their Life Touches. Reviewers say they look forward to this show’s wide variety of interpretations.

Photography Show

This is a non-juried show open to all photographers held in May every year. There will be a Color category and a B&W category. Cash awards and ribbons will be given for The Best of Show and 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places.

Ozarks Heritage Show

This exhibition is held in June every year in conjunction with the Old-Time Music & Ozark Heritage festival held in West Plains, MO. It is the annual display of the entire Broadfoot Collection, the rare originals gifted to the museum by the artist’s family.

Welcome to the Wilderness: The History of Hunting, Fishing, & Trapping in the Pioneer Ozarks

This exhibition, held in August,¬† displays many of the museum’s Native American & early pioneer settler artifacts along with items on loan from private collections

Fall Art Show

Artists from the Ozarks region are invited to submit paintings for this important juried art show, held.¬† Prizes will include but are not limited to awarding the overall Best of Show and 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention Prizes; there will also be Memorial Awards, Purchase Awards, Artistic Encouragement Awards, and a People’s Choice Award. Cash awards and Purchase awards from the public may be donated and given to certain entries.
