This competition is open to all public, private, & home-schooled high school students.
The Young Artist Showcase is open to all other young artists, 8th grade age and younger.
Entry Dates: Friday, March 12th and Saturday, March 13th (12 pm – 4 pm) at the Harlin Museum in the Hathcock Gallery, 405 Worcester Ave, West Plains, MO 65775. Late entries will be accepted until Wednesday, March 17th, 2021 for no additional fee.
Entry Fee: $5.00 per entry item. Cash or checks are acceptable. Make check payable to the Harlin Museum.
Entry limit: Entries are limited to 4 pieces of artwork per artist.
Acceptable Entries: Both 2D & 3D artwork will be accepted for the High School Art Show.
Prize Awards: Prize money and ribbon awards, sponsored by MegaMotorSports of West Plains, will be given to the competition winners, as well as a ribbon for Honorable Mentions and the People’s Choice award. There will be prizes each for Best of Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
Guidelines: All entries will be evaluated for artistic quality, integrity, and presentation and must meet the below display guidelines. Any subject material that can be presented to the general public is acceptable. Artwork must be the original work(s) of the entered artist. No Copies. All work must have been completed in the last 3 years and not previously shown in any of the Harlin Museum’s competition art show exhibits. All two-dimensional work must be either framed or 1.25″ gallery-wrapped canvas with wire and eye-screws for hanging. No Saw-tooth Hangers. No snap-together plastic frames. Watercolor, ink, graphics, and pastel (all works on paper) must be under glass/Plexiglas. All artwork not under glass must be dry.
All 3-dimensional artwork must have its own support base if it cannot be set on a table for display or hung by traditional framed artwork methods. All sculptured wall hanging must have its own hanging bracket with wire attached for display.
Size Limit: No larger than 36 X 48 inches.
Reception: Due to current coronavirus safety guidelines, no reception is planned for this show. Entrants will receive their awards when they pick up their artwork at the conclusion of the show. Paintings will be released on Sunday, April 4th at 3 pm and must be claimed by Sunday, April 11th at 4 pm. Unclaimed paintings will become the property of the Harlin Museum.
Young Artists Showcase: Students younger than 9th grade age may enter their art (for no fee) for display during the High School Art Show; their artwork may be dropped off during the entry dates outlined above. For more information, please contact one of the Points of Contact below.
