Annual High School Art Show Competition & Young Artist Showcase
2024 ENTRY DATES:
Friday, February 16th, 2024, and Saturday, February 17th, 2024 (12 pm – 4 pm each day)

ENTRY FEES:
$5.00 per entry. Limit 2 entries per artist, per category; limit 6 competition entries total.
(EXAMPLE: 2 entries in Paintings Category, 3 in Drawing Category, and 1 entry in Mixed Media.
Fees are payable by cash, check, or card; make checks payable to Harlin Museum.
DIVISIONS & CATEGORIES:
Entries will determine the final divisions and categories. Categories may include: paintings drawings, mixed medium; collage/papercraft; original wood burning art; carved wood/metal/glass/fiber wall hangings &/or free-standing sculpture. Photography will not be an included category in this show.
GUIDELINES:
Eligible artists must be students in 9th – 12th grade of a public school, home school, or private school. Both 2D & 3D artwork will be accepted; all entries must be completed at the time of entry. All entries will be evaluated for Design/ Quality of Composition/Balance, Technique/Skill of Construction, Presentation, and Creativity, Originality, & Uniqueness and must meet all display guidelines. Artwork must be the original work(s) of the artist. All work must have not previously been shown in any Harlin Museum art show exhibits. All 2D artwork must be either framed or 1.25″ gallery-wrapped canvas with wire and eye screws for hanging. PLEASE, no saw-tooth hangers; no snap-together plastic frames. All artwork must be completed. All 3D artwork must have a support base if not stable enough to display on a flat surface or able to be hung by traditional framed artwork/gallery rail methods. All sculptured wall hangings must have their own hanging bracket with wire attached for display.
Young Artists Showcase: Students that are younger than high school age may enter their art (for no fee) for display in the non-competitive Young Artist Showcase during the High School Art Show; their artwork may be dropped off during the entry dates outlined above. INSTRUCTIONS:
Entry forms must be completed for each student artist; copies of the entry form can be found HERE to be completed online or to be printed off and filled out. Entry forms will also be available on entry dates for completion. All entries must be submitted, along with completed entry forms and entry fees paid in full, on either of the scheduled entry dates to be considered. Winners will be announced after the show exhibit opens.
Entries will be released on Monday, March 25th, and must be arranged for pickup or claimed by Sunday, March 31st at 4 pm. Unclaimed entries will become the property of the museum.
